Going back to school days, we all were taught the significance of our universe and various theories to explain how it moved. Big Bang was one such theory which outclassed all its competitors. Remembering of big bang, it says that our universe was a tiny dot before it banged because of some uncontrolled reactions (don't want to go in details) and since then the debris produced has been moving apart. Interesting story, indeed!
Everything that we know or don't know about is a part of this universe and they say it has exploded. Exploded where? and Where is it expanding?
Information age has its major disadvantage that it limits thinking of a person. We are still not evolved enough to differentiate between science and art, but we are almost there I can say this because we know they are incomplete without one another.
'The purest form of art is science and vice versa.'
and adding to this fact, both these domain require each other to prove themselves.
Some biggies have wierd explanations for this expansion of universe phenomenon, I will share a couple of them:
1. We have long known the mystery of Black Holes, it is said that black holes contain life form of its own. As we know that even light cannot escape the demoniac, so there is no transfer of mass or energy from a black hole to the outer world. Direct implication of this theory is that we are all living in some kind of a black hole. Jitters flow all across my body though, it might have something to explain.
2. A universe is made of two items, mass and energy. We usually exchange energies in our day to day life with various stars. In addition to energy, all heavy bodies exchange masses as well. It is said that we have many parallel universes existing somewhere, amongst them one is ours. The quality that separates one from the other is that they neither exchange mass nor energy between them.
There has been no scientific explanation attached to all this but artists don't stop thinking just because they need some formulae to justify there thoughts. Being an engineer, I still support the thinking aspect of people but am I asking too much when I ask them to prove there philosophies?
I guess not, so big guys get us some answers. Dumb terms like black holes, dark matter and dark energy will not suffice. We are living here and we need to know every corner of it.
If i get it right you point at three things . I am not an expert in any of these, but i have a feeble idea
ReplyDeleteAbout the expansion of universe, its in spacetime, so the reference co-ordinates is 4, not 3. Talking from science, as you said we need experimental data to back the philosophies. Since our reference frame of measurement is on thsystem itself, what we do measure is the relative change in displacements (not distance, displacement is 4 D) between 2 bodies in this universe. Simplify to Hubbles law , and galactic redshift, you propose that since everyone seems to be going away everyone , we are in a state of expansion. This has been fueled by the theory of inflation supposedly occuring right after bigbang , where the universe attained a larger mass scale on a smaller time scale.
Experiments mimicking these require a great energy cutoff and PROBABLY the LHC MIGHT answer some of these questions.
To understand where we are expanding , we need to observe the system/universe from outside, something we are unable to do so far.
The concept of black holes comes from a mathematical postulation when the radius of an gravitational field equals to the Swarchschilds radius then light stays confined in the field. It can be described as a singularity in the space time fabric, sothing which till date is purely mathematical.
Quantum Field theory states matter gives rise to fields. So mass and energy have the same treatment. The exchange of energy between any two systems (this can be extrapolated to 2 universes)is limited bt the potential barrier in between the 2 systems. Sometimes wave functions can penetrate a potential barrier by a phenomenon called tunnelling. However to identify the wave which has tunnelled you need to know the wave function on the other side of the barrier. TO determine parallel universes we need to have atleast an idea of how this other universe behaves.
Lastly there are people who are searching for the answers. Till now whatever you have discussed is mathematically proven. To have experimental proof we are being constantly hindered by a lot of factors , money included. Still i do hope one day you will get your answer
Thanks for sharing this info dada.

ReplyDelete99.999% probability is that you wont even go to moon in your lifetime. why worry about what lies beyond the universe and where is it expanding?
@Ayanangsha - really cool info!
Good article Ish sir, and big bang was also big thing for me in childhood till theory of evolution attrated me. Lekin, yahan sirf work is increasing with time, nothing else :(. Ciao..
